Regardless of whether on the farm or in an alpine meadow: animal welfare is of prime importance to Micarna.

More about the rearing of our animals

Our animal welfare promise

Over 95 percent of our animals come from Switzerland, three-quarters of these from certified organic sources. In other words, from breeders whose animal welfare provisions exceed those stipulated by law.

Animal husbandry in agriculture primarily means having respect for living creatures and careful handling of our raw materials.
Daniel Metz, farmer

However, animal welfare in food production does not only mean ensuring that livestock has a comfortable life on the farm. It also means – first and foremost – making sure that animals do not experience stress during their transport, are not long on the road, and are quickly and considerately slaughtered.
