Regardless of whether on the farm or in an alpine meadow: animal welfare is of prime importance to Micarna.

More about the rearing of our animals

Our animal welfare promise

Our 90 per cent of our animals are raised in Switzerland, half of them from label rearing. That means from operations that go beyond the legal framework conditions.

Animal husbandry in agriculture primarily means having respect for living creatures and careful handling of our raw materials.
Daniel Metz, farmer

However, animal welfare in food production does not only mean ensuring that livestock has a comfortable life on the farm. It also means – first and foremost – making sure that animals do not experience stress during their transport, are not long on the road, and are quickly and considerately slaughtered.
